Estoppel
A legal doctrine that prohibits a person from asserting a fact or a right or prevents someone from denying a fact that is seen as settled in the eyes of the law. The prohibition arises through the person's actions, conduct, statements, admissions, failure to act or judgment against the person in an identical legal case.
